Well, Swindon is rapidly drying up as the junkies queue up for their
dealer. Texaco completely out, big queue at Shell. I'm ashamed to be
part of the same human race as these idiots.

It seems to be widespread. Silly, isn't it. The Beeb are running an item on
the "Have your say" page at

I dont know why anyones queuing, its rather strange. The only reason
theres a shortage is due to panic buying.

yes and the real shame is I desperately need some, running on vapour
but can't bring myself to join the Lemmings (and can probably wait
until it comes down a bit, laughs).

Next week I shall be borrowing Mrs M's Occupational Therapist uniform
as some as someone on high in PetroCo has decided that only front line
NHS staff can have any, not low life test tube washers.

I was pleasantly surprised at the headline in the local paper,
though. "Motorists cause chaos as queues form at pumps".

Zog The Undeniable came up with the following;:
Well, Swindon is rapidly drying up as the junkies queue up for their
dealer. Texaco completely out, big queue at Shell. I'm ashamed to be
part of the same human race as these idiots.

Heh.

I live in Doncaster, towed the caravan with family and a couple of friends
to Letchworth on Friday, back again on Sunday and topped up (£50's worth,
Landrover Discovery). We now have enough to last at least two weeks when we
shall once again sally forth but to Worcester for the weekend.

Meantime I use Shanks' Pony, my bicycle, my motorbike, the wife's car or PT,
in that order, as need/suitability arises. As we have no need to visit
the woods this week the Landrover is parked up.

Well I can't complain - the more the fuel price goes up, the more cash
I save due to the 5000 commuting miles I do a year.
Also, my company shares go up, so I can't really lose ;-)

Thought it was outrageous Brown asking OPEC to raise production to
bring down the price of crude oil, since it's his tax take that is the
main reason for the high price of fuel. In any case, it's not lack of
crude oil that's the problem, it's a shortage of refinery capacity to
process the crude which was exacerbated by Hurricane Katrina.

The *rate* of tax hasn't changed but the higher the price of fuel the
more VAT the Govt gets.
