want any controversy about it to distract from his recent confession

The IOC can retroactively strip Olympic medals from athletes if proof
of doping emerges later, or if an athlete admits cheating."

There was no admission of doping at the Olympics and the IOC has
always had the evidence which wasn't conclusive........I'd send his
medal back to him with the message, nice try but if you didn't want
any controversy you should never have lied in the first place. Also,
how is anyone supposed to know when you are telling the truth and when
you are lying.......oh, the truth comes with a gold medal.....give us
a break.
