A cyclist has been treated for 'slash-type' wounds after beingattacked by a group of men in Blackpool
QUOTE:
The unprovoked attack happened at around 2.30pm on Saturday (March 21) when a man in his 30s had been cycling along Belmont Avenue. Police said the cyclist was confronted by a group of approximately four men, who gave chase and struck him several times on the head. The gang fled towards Central Drive, leaving the man bleeding in the street from 'slash-type' injuries. Lancashire Police have not confirmed whether a knife was involved in the attack. The victim was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital and required a number of stitches. One of the offenders is described as Asian, aged in his mid-20s, around 6ft tall, of skinny build, with short dark hair and a thin designer-style beard with a goatee. He had been wearing a black puffer-style jacket, a navy blue jumper with white a t-shirt underneath and grey Adidas jogging bottoms with white vertical stripes on the outer leg. The victim said the man had spoken with a Manchester accent. The cyclist was unable to provide descriptions of the rest of the group. "We are now determined to find out who was responsible and are asking anybody with information about who the men may be to get in touch with us as soon as possible. "Perhaps you were in the area and saw something suspicious, or maybe you recognise the description the victim has given. Either way, we would like to hear from you." Anybody with information is asked to get in touch with Lancashire Police on 101, quoting log 867 of March 21. https://www.blackpoolgazette.co.uk/n...avenue-2513767 |

Is your fist name Nigel? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nigel In Australian English, it is a colloquial term for a male social misfit or a friendless person, originating from the name being unusual in the 1980s and alliterating with "no-friends" |

L et's all hope he makes a good recovery. Whatever happened, it must have been terrifying. Now I don't know Blackpool at all well, and there must certainly be residential areas there in which I have never set either foot or wheel, but no matter how "bad" an area (nudge, nudge), unprovoked attacks on people just going about their business are rare. The victim says it was unprovoked and that cannot be ruled out. But you would expect him to say that whether or not it is true. Are such unprovoked attacks common, whether in Blackpool or anywhere else? And why pick on cyclists just going about their lawful occasions? The "bit before the camera was switched on" (so to speak) is usually absent from these accounts - as we have seen before. |
