Looks like a great ride

It was until we got back to our cars which were parked in a school where
we had permission to use the car park. We got back to find the main
gates padlocked shut. After I cycled to the local Wilko and bought a
hacksaw which was no use at all, we got a car jack and lifted the gate
off its hinges at one end and swung it clear so we could get our cars
out. We then put it back.

I'm a little surprised you drive instead of ride to the starting point.
Is it a long way from where you all live?
Great weather for a ride though, and photos

Good - all wearing helmets - probably taking up a bit too much of the
road width though. I think they would have got a pip from any car
coming up behind.

Why? Would you really attempt an overtake there? Tsk, Tsk, Tsk.

I daren't show her this one with us blocking the *whole* road!

'Blocking'? - I don't see anyone 'blocking' the road there. I can see some
people 'using' the road, but overtaking /anyone/ on that narrow stretch of
road would be hazardous.

It was hard enough doing the 60 miles without adding another 20 on driving
to the start point.

There is a group who ride out from Betchworth every Thursday doing 60 had
and fast miles in the surrey hills - some of those cycle 15 -20 miles to the
start and the same home. some are aged 70 plus!

Ditto - sounds daft to me and defies the whole point, surely.

Why don't you make the ride 40?
