With the highlighting of the two serious brain injuries suffered by Boris
bike users in the short time it has in operation. Perhaps no supplied
helmet will open the scheme up to litigation?

According to the Telegraph they had their heads cut off:

"....after it emerged two cyclists have been hospitilised suffering
sever head injuries"
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/wirecopy/...s-injured.html

But severe head injuries are not the same as brain injuries.

Meanwhile the Israelis and others are repealing their mandatory helmet
laws so they can run a Boris bike-a-like system.

The Crispin idiot recently said;

"My argument would be that compulsory helmet use will deter many people
from cycling, and as cycling is such a healthy activity the benefits
of unrestricted cycling far outweigh the dangers, thus: one thing more
dangerous than cycling (helmeted or unhelmeted) is not cycling.
However, I won't make that argument as the introduction of the
BorisBike in London has killed off any liklihood of a compulsory
helmet law".

One legal case and it looks like you are ****ed matey.

That would rather depend on the verdict.

Is it possible I wonder, for concerned cycle hirers to rent a helmet, from
the stations or nearby or perhaps take there own with them should this not
be possible
after all one must take responsibility for one's own actions, unless a
nanny-state is the preferred option

If they are that concerned then they should buy one. With a rented
helmet apart from issues like getting the right fit and sterilising them
so lice and other nasty skin/scalp infections don't get transferred, you
have no idea whether it actually needs replacing because its been
dropped or hit by a previous user.

That's exactly why those places with mandatory helmet laws that are
planning cycle schemes are looking at repealing their helmet laws.
Auckland hasn't but its cycle scheme is hardly used whereas the Boris
Bike stands are frequently empty with 30,000 trips a day being made on
average.

....because no other sector of road tranport is ever subject to nanny-statism,
is it?

Alas not. We know from Tony Raving that helmets cause strokes & heart
attacks.

You will of course be able to provide pointers to items which back up
this claim or are you just Ravin?
