“Why was the road not closed for the final mile of the race?
“It is commendable that people indulge their passion for cycling, but
the safety of themselves and other road users must be paramount. " Ben Carroll, from Cardiff, was fatally injured on July 9, 2013, when he collided with a van in the open road race on the A40. Ban road racing and many lives would be saved. http://www.southwalesargus.co.uk/new...uo_/?ref=var_0 |

It is dangerous enough as it is, as they "race" to work and try and knock a couple of seconds off their previous best Judith |

More proof that motor vehicles, even when used responsibly, cause danger to other road users. Such inherently unsafe machines have no place on a public highway. |

If someone decides to do something really stupid, how can someone else be to blame for the consequence? Would you blame the ground for killing someone that jumps off a cliff? or a tree that a cyclist rides into? Precisely the point. The driver was not to blame yet his inherently unsafe vehicle still killed someone. |

Terrible accident, but the pentalty for crossing a white line if spotted is disqualification, for a good reason overtaking is a bad idea sadly this young paid for his mistake with his life. wasn't the A40 by way was many years ago but not now. It was the inherently unsafe cyclist; "one of several cyclists who had crossed on to the opposite side of the two-lane carriageway at the time, the inquest heard". A vehicle, like a gun, cannot be safe or unsafe. -- Dave-Cyclists VORK Motorists account for 1 single fatality per 208,311,415 miles driven. A simply incredible safety record. |
