Default Dutch cyclists have longer lives say researchers

Researchers at the University of Utrecht say that Dutch cyclists live
longer than people who do not use a bike.
They say the evidence proves that cycling is not just good for your
health but adds an average of six months to life expectancy.
People in the Netherlands cycle an average of 74 minutes per week.

Cyclists don't live longer, it just feels like they do because cycling
is so slow.

I heard it was two years extra.
Then again, I did 12 hours a week.

Smokers lose 10 years. UK life expectancy is 80.5, so for smokers it is 70.5 and cyclists 82.5.

One study showed that you get maximum longevity from 3 glasses of wine/day and another from 2 1/2 hours/week exercise. I get that just from lap swim, an activity so boring it seems like you're living forever.

Moral of the story, Simon! Smoke AND cycle and you might live 30 more
years than 82 ;-)
