Is heart rate a good measure of fat burning?

That's what I meant, I know that training for long periods like that ultimately damages muscle, 30 minutes to an hour can be good AFAIUI (but I'm betting the triathletes have a better grasp of the issues than I do) even if you exercise to "exhaustion" you are unlikely to completely exhaust your muscle glycogen: fatigue is your body's way of telling you to back off. http://bjsm.bmj.com/cgi/content/full/39/1/34 http://www.53x12.com/do/show?page=article&id=62 -dan -- http://www.coruskate.net/ |

However, you can deplete glycogen to the point of being unable to continue exercise (ie, bonking). |
