Removing crimped hose from Medai pump

CRIMP is an indented cylinder with indents gripping hose...so what screws in ? the crimp ?

check McMaster for matching 'push on' connectors/hose

I took your advice and cut off the crimp, and there was a nib underneath. I got a Planet Bike replacement hose with their dual-head on it, and attached it to the nib with a zip tie, because I had one handy. Seems to work fine! Thank you.

There is something I like about keeping the old gear going. As I said, this pump is 40 years old. I have a Silca track pump from the same era. I recently tried a Lezyne floor pump (that's another story) but it seemed like it was from another planet, compared to my old gear.

I agree completely. Some new stuff is better than the old, of course; but it seems like lots of new stuff is different just to be different or "Innovative!" whether or not it works better. Other new stuff is designed for very easy manufacture, but is impossible to repair.

My floor pump (just like yours) is decades old and still bulletproof. My kid's similar floor pump is plastic, flexible, and always feels like it's about to break.

I have used the PB pump head before, and it has a life span, after which the rubber compression washers wear out and the seal begins to leak at the valve. But the head is $6 shipped, the hose with head is $10 shipped, and they seem to be a great little company. I sent an email asking the inside diameter of the hose (5mm) and they responded promptly.

I use this pump primarily for shraeder valves on the car tires & kid bikes, but I tested the presta fitting today and worked well.

You need to go to an auto parts store? SAE size #04 clamps are
readily available. They clamp down to 1/4 inch (and usually, just a
little bit less, but that's not in the spec.) Less than that, I'd use
a zip tie. Specialized clamps exist, but they're hard to get and
expensive, because they're specialized. And for something not safety
critical, a zip tie will work fine, last for a long time, is dirt
cheap, and way easier than whipping with wire. I'd put a hose clamp
on a zip tie before I'd do that.

Nope. Won't work with this pump. The pump has a separate screw-on hose that stows inside the main tube (or shaft) of the pump. That tube ID (just measured) is 0.365". The hose is about 0.288" OD. Putting a small zip tie on that would give an effective (i.e. max) diameter of 0.42". It won't come close to fitting inside the tube.

My wire wrap measures 0.334" OD. It fits. Granted, some other crimp-on hose clamp could also work, but by the time I'd go to the auto parts store, search, buy and return, I can get the wire wrap done. The materials are at hand.
