As for the chain - Wipperman link + degreaser + lube = 10 mins -- Cheers Peter I'm pretty sure I've been using the right grease, but if you ride ofte enough in rain, especially heavy rain, and you'll have to regreas bearings sooner than if you rode exclusively in dry weather. Anyway, m point wasn't that cleaning is onerous, it was that brake-pad wear is pretty trivial thing to worry about compared with the other things! I 100% agree with your chain recipe.
