Cyclist victim speaks out after driver is jailed
QUOTE:
"A cyclist who was driven at head-on by a motorist subsequently jailed for dangerous driving said he felt "deliberately targeted". Dean Goble of Siddington in Gloucestershire was found guilty of two counts of dangerous driving and sentenced to two-and-a-half-years. In 2014, Goble deliberately swerved his Peugeot 306 at cyclist David Jones in Ashton Keynes, Wiltshire. A camera mounted on Mr Jones's helmet recorded the incident. Goble had claimed he was avoiding potholes, but when the footage was shown in court he was unable to point any road damage out to the jury. Mr Jones said he "froze on his bike", and if the car had hit him it would have been "pretty devastating". He said: "It's difficult to believe that someone would do that. It was only half an hour later when I got home and looked at the video I realised how lucky I was." http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-35427253 |

It's his own fault if he gets hit - if a large object is bearing down on you for any reason and you don't get out of the way, nobody's responsible but you. Anybody taking a bike on the roads should be able to avoid things - what if it was a runaway? He'd still get hit. |

Because he broke a law. The cyclist didn't get hit, remember. If the car had continued and he hadn't "un-frozen" he would have been hit. Anyone sensible would get out of the way. |

It would serve as a deterrent and be cheaper than prison. It probably wouldn't even harm him. |

So if some psychopath goes down the High St with a machine gun, it is up to the shoppers to scatter to the four winds and if none gets killed the psychopath should not be jailed? |

What on earth makes you think a machine gun (which has only one purpose - to kill) is comparable to someone driving a car badly? -- Reality is only an illusion that occurs due to a lack of alcohol. |
