Looks like he walked out in front of the cyclist without checking properly that it was safe first. He was very lucky it wasn't a car that hit him, otherwise he could have been killed. He will be more careful the next time. If I had ran over every cyclist that had ever pulled out without looking then there would be dozens of killed or maimed. The cyclist was travelling too fast for the conditions, end of. |

There are some very wise people here who will reassure you that it's very difficult (if not actually impossible) for a cyclist to injure a pedestrian. And even if a cyclist *does* injure a pedestrian, the injury can't be serious. And even it is *is* a serious injury, it's less serious than it would have been if they'd been hit by a car. And even if the pedestrian is *killed* by a cyclist running into them whilst trying to outdio his personal worst on the Strava, well, that doesn't matter because it's *rare*. |

According to many here, if a cyclist gets hit by a car because he is not looking, then it's the car drivers fault. --- This email has been checked for viruses by Avast antivirus software. https://www.avast.com/antivirus |

Some would say that if a driver who is doing 60mph that can't stop if a ped suddenly walks out 1 metre from his front bumper is driving too fast for the conditions. |

Wow ! an accurate observation for once. and now scale it to the cyclist in question, if the cyclist is travelling fast enough to cause such a serious injury in the event of collision, should the cyclist be travelling that fast when it is patently obvious that pedestrians are about and might step into his pathway ? |

There are some very wise people here who will reassure you that it's very difficult (if not actually impossible) for a cyclist to injure a pedestrian. And there are some pathetic, pig-ignorant, lying trolls who will continually fabricate quotations out of thin air, and attribute them to cyclists, just to demonize cyclists. Like, for example.. 'Elsewhere, and quite recently, Yitzhak has explicitly claimed to have three law degrees' (Nugent, 9 May 2016) And now... 'here are some very wise people here who will reassure you that it's very difficult (if not actually impossible) for a cyclist to injure a pedestrian' Both allegations completely fabricated. If you can't win an 'argument' without resorting to lying, it means you've already lost. -- john smith |MA (Hons)|MPhil (Hons)|CAPES (mention très bien)|LLB (Hons) 'It never gets any easier.
