Cyclists 'urged to get insurance'
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-15892074
"Not having a comprehensive insurance policy could prove costly, cyclists have been warned by the Association of British Insurers (ABI). It says those hurt in an accident, or found responsible for causing one, may face bills of thousands of pounds. Department for Transport figures show accidents involving cyclists rose by 12% in the first half of 2011 compared with the same period a year earlier. Cycle use is now around 20% higher than it was in the late 1990s." UD |

Yeah it's not like they are trying to drum up business or anything. I personally don't know of a single case where a cyclist has been successfully sued by a car driver or their ins. co. for causing an accident. Not having insurance in no way precludes a cyclist from taking legal action (with help from no win no fee deals) against the filthy car driving scum that cause accidents. The uninsured driver case mentioned in the article is bit of a red herring since you can still litigate thru the civil courts. If they have no money you can find out where they live and get the immense satisfaction of kicking the crap out of them (assuming you are out of hospital). Anyway after offering these pearls of wisdom I must go for a ride, even if it is overcast and looking a bit drizzly sigh ....England sucks donkey cock. -- |

It's very important to have pedestrian insurance in case you're run down by a hit and run van driver, or sued by a banker for causing an accident after you fall under the wheels of his Bentley.
