Default Another cyclist that just fell off while riding on the pavement.

Originally this was reported as a hit and run, but the truth came out at the
inquest.
A CYCLIST riding along the pavement beside the A259 De La Warr Road,
Bexhill, lost control just before he was passed by an articulated lorry, an
inquest heard.

In the one-and-a-half seconds police expert PC Adrian Short calculated that
it took the lorry to pass, the cyclist fell into the road and struck his
head on the carriageway, suffering fatal head injuries.

Thank goodeness for cctv:

Eight 'stills' taken from a CCTV camera mounted in the lorry's cab showed Mr
Cramp beginning to lose control as driver Stephen Ramsden, 60, from Morley,
Leeds, approached.

The court heard evidence that suggested at no time had cycle and lorry come
into contact

Interesting. Should a lorry driver be held accountable for causing
death if that death was caused by his vehicle's slipstream.

I would say yes, undoubtedly.

Of course, in this case we do not have enough information to suppose
that Mr Cramp's untimely fall was caused by the vehicle's slipstream -
it just seems that way.

Handy that some lorries have cameras now. Might enable them to see in
their own blind spots perhaps?

I've experienced that "push" effect as air is expelled from a Tube tunnel
just before the train arrives, but I can't say I've noticed it from an
approaching lorry in the open air.

Proof that a push bike isn't a viable form of transport.

Dave - Cyclists VOR. "Many people barely recognise the bicycle as a
legitimate mode of transport; it is either a toy for children or a
vehicle fit only for the poor and/or strange," Dave Horton, of Lancaster
University, wrote in an interim assessment of the Understanding Walking
and Cycling study. "For them, cycling is a bit embarrassing, they fail
to see its purpose, and have no interest in integrating it into their
lives, certainly on a regular basis."

This driver defenestrates himself through his front windscreen gabbing
his coat on his way.

As the cyclist started to fall off _before_ the vehicle passed it
seems improbable that his demise was caused by the slipstream which is
behind the vehicle,

Which bit of "beginning to lose control as ... approached." makes you
think that?

it is a special way of reading that psycholists have, it ensures that
salient points that do not support their way of thinking never reach their
brain.
