Default Peak District cycle paths sabotaged with 'dangerous' traps

"Incredibly dangerous" booby traps have been found on popular cycle
paths in the Peak District.

Items found in recent weeks include large rocks moved out of position,
pins dropped on the road and branches arranged at head height across paths.

Chris Maloney, who runs a local cycling information blog, said while
cyclists appeared to be the target, the obstacles could harm anyone.

Police said they had been made aware and appealed for information.

The traps have been spotted on trails and roads in Bradwell, Bamford and
Aston, near the Derbyshire/South Yorkshire border. There are no reports
of anyone being injured.

Unless you videoed them placing caltrops on the path it might be difficult to prove much in court.

Cyclists clearly ought to boycott the Peak District and everywhere else
where such traps are thought to have been laid as well as everywhere
where cyclists have been killed in traffic accidents which have ocurred
when they did something entirely innocent like riding straight through a
red traffic light.

Again, you're defending the people that lay the traps, with the old "if
they didn't cycle there they wouldn't get hurt".

as well as everywhere
where cyclists have been killed in traffic accidents which have ocurred

Perhaps you would enlighten us as to how many get killed by red lights.
And if any are, you're obviously completely blind to the difference
between being harmed by one's own act and being harmed by someone else's
act.

Dogs/wildlife and children would be the most likely victims of the pins.
And I can't think an 'obstacle' would bother many cyclists.

no one has been injured, so their level of 'very dangerous' should be
changed to 'not dangerous' or 'annoying' perhaps. Now if there were
some real Rambo style efforts, I would say 'very dangerous' was appropriate.

Quite the reverse.

You don't understand plain English words like "boycott".

as well as everywhere where cyclists have been killed in traffic
accidents which have ocurred when they did something entirely innocent
like riding straight through a red traffic light.

Perhaps you would enlighten us as to how many get killed by red lights.

Do you think that's funny?

And if any are, you're obviously completely blind to the difference

act.

Riding through a red traffic light and colliding with a vehicle which
is passing through the junction lawfully is indeed "being harmed by
one's own act".

Only someone very stupid would claim otherwise.

Go on... you know you're dying to claim that a cyclist killed when
riding through a red light isn't the author of his/her own misfortune.

Yes. It would mean not cycling there.

No. How many?

It is. I never suggested otherwise.

Then you have already forgotten that the thread started off about
someone laying traps. It's unlikely it was to cause self harm.

9/10 people detest psycholists.
Squirm all you like, but that is the sad life that you lead.

That's right: not dignifying the area with your presence.

That'll teach 'em.

Won't it?

When you answered:

QUOTE:
.... cyclists have been killed in traffic accidents [where] they did
something entirely innocent like riding straight through a red traffic
light...
ENDQUOTE

....by raising the prospect of being "harmed by someone else's act", even
though the context was completely focused upon a cyclist being harmed by
the cyclists's own act.

Only someone very stupid would claim otherwise.

If it's that bad, boycott the areas concerned. Deny them and their
inhabitants the economic benefits that cyclists bring in their wake.
