Chris Peck, of CTC, said: "Most cyclists obey the rules of the road,
there is only a minority that cycle anti-socially, like breaking red
lights and cycle on pavements".

That minority, every single one of them, must live around here then as
almost all of them, without exception, seem to believe that the laws
are there to be obeyed only by motorists.
Laws only to be obeyed by motorists? You mean you live in an area where
motorists don't exceed the speed limit whenever they have enough free
road to accelerate?

hardly any cyclists have a speedo, so they wouldn't know if/when
they're exceeding a speed limit anyway - bad example.

The example was that motorists regularly break the law. Many motorists
appear to be so conceited they don't even understand that driving above
the speed limit is breaking the law.

For what it is worth speed limits don't apply to cyclists.

Yes they do, although few can get above 30mph on the flat. The new 20mph
areas could see them getting nicked.

Of all road users (including pedestrians here) cyclists are by far the most
delinquent. They routinely just ignore traffic lights, ride on the
pavements to the danger of pedestrians and abuse pedestrian crossings by
riding over them and through them. They rarely have lights at night, or use
feeble flashing lights as a substitute. They undertake, overtake and weave
through traffic.

Most of what they want (e.g. turning left at red lights - e.g. during
pedestrian phases) is silly, selfish and dangerous, although there is some
merit in allowing cyclists to go the wrong way on one way [side] streets.

Ah, that old favourite proof by assertion.

In fact speed limits on public roads generally only apply to
operators of motor vehicles. That is why the Highway Code is silent
on speed limits for operators of bikes.

See rule 124 and the table before it
http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/TravelAndTransport/Highwaycode/DG_070304

One of the few exceptions are some royal parks, though whether these
are public roads is a matter of opinion.

No thanks.

Why not?
I would have thought that there may be some there with some views
worth airing - do you think this is not the case?
