Fine, name and shame all anti-social road-users (incl. pavements).

"Dr Rogers said he did not feel there was anything wrong with people
cycling on pavements if they were not causing a danger to pedestrians"

"We need to move the debate from not wanting anybody cycling on the
pavements, to we don't want anyone cycling on the pavement in a way that
is dangerous to others and anti-social and then I think the whole
community would get behind it."

Good to see Mrcheerful supporting this sensible pragmatic approach.

One way of reducing vehicle and pedestrian accidents is to separate
the various traffic types. This is clearly evident in the demand for
special provisions of all kinds for cyclists by such organisations
as CTC. Cycle lanes on public roads, however perceived, are an
indicator of this.

Interesting that the CTC "demand" special provisions for a tiny minority
of road users who don't want to pay for them.

Dave - Cyclists VOR. "Many people barely recognise the bicycle as a
legitimate mode of transport; it is either a toy for children or a
vehicle fit only for the poor and/or strange," Dave Horton, of Lancaster
University, wrote in an interim assessment of the Understanding Walking
and Cycling study. "For them, cycling is a bit embarrassing, they fail
to see its purpose, and have no interest in integrating it into their
lives, certainly on a regular basis."
