Maybe the drivers can't say thanks as they have a mobile 'phone in
their hand?

Can't you drive no handed? You only need a hand on the wheel to turn.

But seriously, I have no problem using a phone, a sandwich, or a
bottle of coke while driving. You only use one hand unless you're
changing gear or indicating. Just put the phone down at that point.

I have never owned a mobile 'phone as I don't need one.

Of course you don't.

Only friends know one's mobile number.

Several spammers seem to know mine.

They know the number exists. They might not know whose phone it is.

It's usually companies I've dealt with who seem to think I want pestered about smart meters and the like. Easier to block them than tell them to **** off.

Ever noticed that breakdown cover is charged the opposite way round to car insurance? With insurance, you pay a large amount, then it reduces as you make no claims. But with breakdown, it starts low then increases if you claim. Which is daft as you can just change supplier and go to the cheapest level again.

I only have ever had bundled breakdown cover with my insurance which seems to be "free". I only have bespoke breakdown cover when I am on my European trips as my insurance doesn't cover non UK travel.

It ain't free. If you take off all the extras, the insurance is much lower. I pay £130 fully comp.

And I don't like all my eggs in one basket.

My insurance is £350.

I thought your Alfa was quite old, therefore not worth much? Or is it in a bracket equated with dangerous drivers? £350 is absurd, I haven't paid that much since I had a much smaller NCD.

I have been with Hastings for about 10 years now, maybe I need to change insurers when it runs out in September. They tend to jack the prices up for loyal mugs, er customers.

I check on gocompare etc if I think the price is increasing or just every 2 or 3 years to see anyway. And also whenever I change car.

Isn't it just a tiny bit pretentious to insist on putting an apostrophe
before phone?

I also put one before 'flu.

Do you also put an apostrophe before "bus"?

****ing hell, under half! I take it you have money to throw around, never having bothered to check before?

And breakdown should be £35+ on its own.

I will probably change it in September.
