Is it against the law to cycle on pavements?
Is it against the law to cycle on pavements?
Yes it is! "Bicycles are considered vehicles under British law and is illegal to ride a bike on a pavement which has not been designated as a cycle way. The maximum penalty is £500, but it is often dealt with by a £50 fixed penalty notice. However, the law is not always enforced by police." I suggest a letter to your Counsellor, MP, local/national press, Chief Constable would result in immediate action saving tormented souls from repeating well worn mantras day after day! |

QUOTE: Just one cyclist was fined for riding on the pavement in the West Midlands last year. Shocking figures, obtained under Freedom of Information laws, show police have virtually stopped handing out fixed penalties for the offence over the last decade. ENDS Can't be much of a "problem" then, can it? https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/new...umber-15815580 |
