A Final Election Assessment
"B. Lafferty" wrote in message nk.net... THEY say that in life you get what you deserve. Well, today America has deservedly got a lawless cowboy to lead them further into carnage and isolation and the unreserved contempt of most of the rest of the world. This once-great country has pulled up its drawbridge for another four years and stuck a finger up to the billions of us forced to share the same air. And in doing so, it has shown itself to be a fearful, backward-looking and very small nation. SNIP.......... Don't have time to read your entire list of complaints about America.... The only thing that is proven is that you, John Kerry, and the rest of the sal****er states including the one that I have to live in are out of touch with the sentiment of the American majority. Much of what you say is unfounded liberal dribble with a dash of post election blues. I think John Kerry ran a valiant campaign and looking back, I admit I have a lot of respect for his efforts and passion.. However, the bottom line still is that Bush isn't perfect but he is better for America than Kerry at this point in time. Calling the rest of America "stupid" or saying "they get what they deserve" is why I'll never be able to move to the left as many of the liberals I know do not respect the office of the Presidency. I was more than willing to accept the outcome of the election and move forward with a change if that is what America decided because I respect the office and the democratic process. You sound like someone who just "wants it their way". That to me sounds like a dictatorship or communism. Either way, I would agree that Bush has a challenge in bringing the country back together.. I'm glad we live in a society where we can have disagreements and move forward....well at least the majority of us. I hope Canada is not too cold for you to pursue your cycling aspirations! But in a typical liberal move, you overpromise, no doubt. I'm sure the spewing of the liberal hand-wringing crybaby sore loser crap will go on for quite some time to come. It probably would be better if you all actually DID go to Canada. It's funny how much talk there's been about that, but without follow-through. And doesn't THAT sound like a familiar pattern. This once-great country has pulled up its drawbridge for another four years and stuck a finger up to the billions of us forced to share the same air. And in doing so, it has shown itself to be a fearful, backward-looking and very small nation. This should have been the day when Americans finally answered their critics by raising their eyes from their own sidewalks and looking outward towards the rest of humanity. And for a few hours early yesterday, when the exit polls predicted a John Kerry victory, it seemed they had. And yet... Gee, do you think the theories about the exit polls could be true? The theory goes something like this; the vocal minority (hostile liberals) have been whining the entire term since the "stolen" election. Virtually all of the swing voters were voting for Bush but felt ashamed because of all the intense rhetoric they had to endure. Thus, they voted for Bush but defensively reported Kerry votes to the pollsters (as they had become accustomed to doing in public). But then the horrible, inevitable truth hit home. More voters wanted Bush. "the horrible"? Do you see how you make yourself look? Days after the fat lady sung her sad song to you and you are still doling out that sappy over-the-top rhetoric that was already too much when you had a chance to get a Dem in the Whitehouse. Now is it just stupid and reflective of a poor attitude. They had somehow managed to re-elect the most devious, blinkered and reckless leader ever put before them. The Yellow Rogue of Texas. By getting more votes? I had to snip the rest Oh, my God! Bryan, get over yourself. I know that with cycling in the off season it is tempting to whine about politics until February, but please don't. I'd rather read recycled bitching about anything to do with cycling than this tired whining about "the Demon" (second term) POtUS. |
