Speeding cyclist mows down elderly jogger

The cyclist was travelling too fast down a hill and smashed into the
elderly woman .

Luckily passers by took her to hospital for facial surgery.

“They do come down at a heck of a speed. They think they are coming down
a hill in the Tour De France. I was in the wrong place at the wrong time.”

coming down the hill, and not a cyclist.

I wonder what the result would have been if it has been a car driver
coming down the hill, and not a cyclist.

But it wasn't. It was a cyclist. If it had been a car it would have been
easily identifiable by its number plates, and the car would have carried
insurance, which would have enable her to claim compensation.
So, unfortunately, it was a cyclist, who apparently did their normal trick
and scarpered.

But this is a cycling NG. Please at least make some attempt to stay on
topic, and not try to deflect the conversation to some non-existent
motorist.

a car driver would be less likely to be looking at the yard in front of
his front wheel while trying to beat a Strava time, he would also have
efficient brakes, also engine noise and tyre sounds helps to give
audible warning of approach.

(b) Have seen her hi viz vest.
(c) Been able to brake in time.
(d) Been traceable.
(e) Have been trained & passed a test which included observation &
anticipation skills.
