Default AMB electronic timing system - good?

My cycling club is about to invest in an AMB electronic timing system t
sort out finishing order in races. Every rider gets a transponder t
put on their bike (will cost about $100 each to hire the transponder).
The whole system will cost about $20,000, but thanks to a governmen
grant the Club will be able to afford it.

In theory the system sounds great, it will certainly ease the load o
finish line officials. Has anyone used this system? What do you thin
of it
