got a bit of movement in the headset and as its only a few months old Im fairly sure it just needs tightening, but cant remember how! which bit am i tightening? Im guessing either the screw at the top of the tube (star-type thing) altho that just holds thge stem in place/down doesnt it? the two rings/collars athe top of the headtube rotate but look like they normally should anyway clues, anyone. lordy knows I dont. really should learn this stuff... -- flyingdutch |

If it's a newer type headset (Ahead, etc) then the top bolt preloads the bearings and the bolts on the side hold it all together. So you'd loosen the side bolts, tighten the top bolt until the bars turn without binding and they don't have any fore/aft movement when you brake and push on the bars, endo style. Tighten side bolts.. Why am I typing this.. it's here in more detail: (Scroll most of the way down) http://www.parktool.com/repair_help/...readless.shtml hippy |
