USA Pro Challenge
Start is next Monday. Here in the start town (pop 17,000) teams are
rolling in (many coming off the Tour of Utah) and are seen in groups on training rides on the local roads. We have lots of cyclists and quite a few pros but have never hosted a pro road peloton the likes of this. Quite the event. DR |

What's the temperature at the start going to be like, should the riders have chiller units strapped to their bikes. -- |

About the same or less at the finish (~8700 feet) . http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick...d2=-107.832699 And although the expected daytime high at the start could be upper 80's, that's the lowest elevation on the stage. So, heat is not likely to be much of a factor. But afternoon thundershowers could be. http://www.usaprocyclingchallenge.co...-1-Profile.pdf DR |

Add the Columbian and Russian teams and throw in the local USAian outfits and it should be a very interesting mix, wish I was there to see it. Actually I wish I was just about anywhere but England but I'm stuck in this rainy ******** for another two months until my house is auctioned. Still looking on the bright side we are gonna get an hour a day of the Vuelta on English TV which is good. -- |

Apparently a last minute decision - I understand he has been sighted here. Not yet sufficiently recovered from his injury. I went out for a midday spin and saw a handful of individual pros on my route - rural two lane county roads. Passed (going the opposite direction) Team Exergy in formation with a team car following. Got passed by Garmin Sharp doing the same thing coming up from behind. I mentioned thundershowers- that's what it's doing right now - classic afternoon mountain weather in the summer. DR |
