Default Rear light for rack

Hello,

Does anyone have any suggestions for good rear lights that'll fit onto
a rack with fittings between 50 & 80 mm apart? I did have a Hella
which was very bright and emitted a steady light (I already have a
flashing one elsewhere on the bike) - it was a RL-980, I think - but
it's expired over the summer, for some reason. Just done a wee web
search and can't find a replacement anywhere.

Thanks for any suggestions,

Oaf

Have a look at the light mentioned in this post. Incredible bargain as
a supplementary rack-mounted light.

Cateye provide a bracket to fit certain of their lights to a rack. I
have them on mine and the kids bikes.
I bought them from Edinburgh bicycle

Two suggestions, actually:

1. Busch & Muller 4D TopLight, I have several and rate them highly

2. P-clips on the bolts and looped round the rear horizontal member
of the rack above the light, so that when the bracket fails you
don't lose the light. Alternatively a safety wire made of brake
cable with ring connectors crimped on the ends.

The Cateye TL-1100 comes with a self-tapping screw so that you can attach
the light to a single center hole on your rack. Not sure if this will work
for you. The TL-1100 is an excellent light, though.

Yeah, I like mine. The little green telltale LED that lets you know
the batteries are still good is particularly neat. (I find it's easy
to forget how bright a light ought to be when it gradually dims over
time as the batteries lose charge. This way I'm reminded to change
them before the light becomes too feeble.)

I suggest you avoid the 'senso' version, though -- as far as I can tell
all it means is that in addition to "on" and "off" the switch has a
third position where you can't rely on the light being on when you're
riding or off when the bike's in the shed.
