Default Mudguard Mounting Bolts

Hi, does anybody know a supplier in the UK for stainless mudguard mounts. I
am after the bolts for the seat stay bridge and the fork crown. Sheldon
Brown sell them (http://www.sheldonbrown.com/harris/fenders.html) but
unfortunately don't ship them to the UK unless you spend over $100. There is
a picture of the parts on the website, numbers BO6025 6 x 25 bolt for seat
stay bridge & BO6045 6 x 45 bolt for fork crown.

Thanks

LBS? Local engineering supplier? RS Components? Wiggle? St John Street
Cycles? Google?? ;-)

The socket head cap screws are just normal SS fasteners. Sheldon has
been kind enough to give you the sizes too (M6x25 and M6x45). The
washers are available at local bike shops, maybe alloy rather than SS
though.

There are plenty of specialist fastener suppliers - a quick Google found
http://www.stagonset.co.uk/fasteners where you can buy the nuts, bolts
and washers for £2.43 including delivery. Any bike shop will probably
have the saddle washers, possibly in their junk/scrap bin.

They're just normal stainless bolts. Where to get them depends on where you
are. Cambridge, I'd just pop into Mackays. Other towns, find a bolt seller.
There are some on the interweb - www.namrick.co.uk look suitable for this
sort of thing. Obviously for a on-off my mail order you'll pay more. (I'd
take the opportunity to get some other spares in at the same time :-) )

(or do you need the funny shaped washery bits too?)

cheers,
clive

Thanks guys, I guess I was looking to purchase the items as a complete unit
which seemed a nice easy way. Like you rightly say it is just as easy to
purchase the components and make them up myself. Nice if I could find some
stainless saddle washers though.

I don't recall ever seeing stainless saddle washers, there's really not
much point making them from stainless when alloy works.

You'll probably find that stainless steel bolts of the right size but
not for mudguards are cheaper & easier to find.

Just normal bolts? Try looking in B&Q under 'machine screws'.

The "saddle washers" are generally aluminium, available at any decent
bike shop.

No point in doing these in stainless, the aluminium won't rust and it
is lighter.

This thread gives me the opportunity to ask if the Sheldon nuts are
already available:
http://sheldonbrown.com/lasvegas/2006/pages/sheldon-fendernut-text.html
Will you export them to an European bike shop? Sending just two nuts
over the Atlantic seems to be kind of silly.
