Default TdF with a human face at last ?

Other than Landis' amazing feat today and massive collapse yesterday,
you can't help but notice that the top guys are no longer infallible,
Kloden who can't keep up, Menchov who attacks and then goes back,
that's not the type of stuff you saw in the past years. A guy was
dropped he was history, a guy took off, no one caught up. There's got
to be something there ! Something that Mr 60% can't seem to relate
to...

I think this is what happens when the Tour de France is raced by racers,
not by dollars.

I think the money is still tehre, but this is certainly refreshing and
a nice way to put the UberAssHole behind us quickly !

Pantani dropped all sorts of riders soloing during the 2000 TdF. He was a
top guy that didn't win (was fallible). I think it was 2005 or 2004 (or
both) that Vino attacked a time or two only to be caught. He was a top guy
that didn't win, but did place very well. There are more examples in recent
years but these are off the top of my head.
