Default Landis TDF win so now what....??

Now that Lanids has won the TDF one has to has what the future holds
for him and Phonak....??

I think that Landis now must demand that Phonak (ie Ishares) use their
cash to build a team that is capable of supporting him. The other
possiblity is that Landis goes to another teams such as Discovery or
CSC. Landis'es hip replacement raises some question as to his future,
but his contracts can be heavily weighted to a performance based
contract.

Landis has already renewed with Phonak.

His hip replacement is going to be better than his current hip; once the
operation has healed up and it's all settled down, he's going to have a
smoother running joint with less pain. He won't be less strong.

Phonak-the-team made a chunk of money out of the Tour win, but what's
really significant about it is that Phonak-the-company have decided they
want to stay in as co-sponsors; and it's going to be easy to attract
more co-sponsors on the back of the Tour victory. So there's going to be
more money to pay cyclists in the coming year.

However, one of the things that makes Phonak a team where Landis is happy
and sufficiently motivated to do things like last Thursday is that it's
clearly a happy team. Every single one of their riders in this year's
tour has renewed - including Axel, who meant to retire last year. So I
don't think team Phonak going into next year's Tour will look very
different from Phonak going into this year's Tour.

They'll probably change the detail of the strip, though, so that you can
see the yellow ribbon on the end of Landis' sleeve!
