Sorry about the slightly comical title.

Just wondering if that kind of crash/fall has almost been eradicated
now? This is in part to the good work of the cycle manufacturers.

I've been over the bars recently - the front wheel stopped on a muddy,
rooty slope, but I didn't.

The brakes on both of my bikes are more powerful than they were years
ago, so inappropriate levels of braking would be more likely to chuck
you over the bars, not less. Why would you think the manufacturers
could do anything to stop people going over the bars?

No, if anything it's easier nowdays thanks to the higher mechanical
advantage of modern brakes -- like dual-pivot calipers and v-brakes. Not
so
much hand strength is required to get strong braking. Alloy rims help as
well.

I've not managed to go over but came very close when I got my first front
disc brake bike and decided to see how quickly I could stop on a slight
downhill. It threw me off and the back end went right up but I didn't go
over the handlebars. It's quite an achievement as well given my weight in
kilos is in three figures!

I've never managed to do it again since even with new pads and calipers.

I don't get why you people think I'm not interested for.

Failure to engage in other people's conversations. Considered very rude in
the real world.

I must admit I don't quite follow you here.
