Are you referring to the horrible noise at the time he was coasting by
the disabled truck?


Yes, that's right. Although in this case it could have been some
normal but horrible "chain management" [1] sound from a bike with an
eight-foot chain.

[1] "Chain management" is what recumbentists call it when their bikes
are so grievously ill-conceived that the chain would intersect itself,
the bike's structure, or the rider's body if not routed around rollers
or through conduits or guides. The rest of us would more likely call
it "mechanical interference".
