Default Where to buy bottom bracket shell?

Hello All:

We are building two arm crank ergometers in my lab and we need a couple
of steel bottom bracket shells. Just the shell (as in the part that a
frame builder would use). Any idea where I can buy a couple on line?

Thanks,

Jim

Could you stop by the local thrift store, buy a couple of steel-framed
bikes, get out the hacksaw, and ....

??

I suppose I *could* do that but what I'd save in cash I'd more than
spend in time. Creative solution though ;-)

Cheers,

Jim

What with ordering delays and such, it'd be a bunch quicker, though.
Unless you're waiting on them and can't do anything else, of course,
that's not the metric to use.

Still, though, have you tried your local framebuilder? Also, you'll want
to take the finished product back to a bike shop to have the faces cut and
threads reamed. If you get thrift store bikes, you might skip that step.

Here's a good survey of framebuilding supply houses :

In particular, Nova Cycle Supply is probably going to be your fastest
source for bottom bracket shells: http://www.novacycles.com/ .

lugged and lugless shells, are reputable, fast and reliable.
