Default Hit and run driver crashed into shop and killed boy.

This could never happen with a cyclist. Just goes to show, even
pavements aren't safe for children these days from these highly
dangerous drivers. And yet this pavement carnage is still allowed to
continue while cyclists are continuously criticised for merely riding
on pavements, especially by the motorists on this cycling newsgroup.
It would seem they have their priorities a little wrong.

Amazingly, the killer driver was bailed by police and presumably has
been allowed to continue driving since May!

"Man in court over Smethwick teenager's car crash death

A man has appeared in court charged with killing a boy who died after
being hit by a car which crashed into a shop.

Mahamed Nabaz Salam, 28, of West Bromwich, West Midlands, is charged
with causing 15-year-old Joshua McAuley's death by dangerous driving.

Joshua died after the car left the road in Cape Hill, Smethwick, on 15
May.

Mr Salam, of Green Street, is also charged with failing to stop at the
scene of an accident and failing to report an accident.

He did not enter any pleas to the charges when he appeared at Warley
Magistrates' Court, in Oldbury.

The defendant is due to appear at Wolverhampton Crown Court on 25
October."

Why have you not posted this th uk.cookery, as this sort of thing could
not be caused by a bacon sandwich?

e.g.
This could never happen with a bacon sandwich. Just goes to show, even

greasy, especially by the cooks on this newsgroup.

If the child had been killed by a snack then it would have been
appropriate for uk.cookery but cyclists are not usually killed by
snacks but instead are killed by dangerous drivers. Also, as the
question of riding on pavements often arises on this NG, and this
killing happened on a pavement, so it would seem to be entirely
appropriate here.

I know you find it difficult to accept that the car you use is highly
dangerous to cyclists but maybe you should consider this more often
instead of dismissing the whole thing as OT and not worthy of
consideration here.

Actually, although it doesn't often come to fruition until the victim has
lived for several more decades, snacks kill children far more often than
dangerous drivers do.

HTH.

Indeed.

Now, in order to make it fully relevant, perhaps you can point out the parts
of any of the reports you cited where it is stated or alleged that the driver
- whose behaviour may well have been absolutely atrocious - was driving along
the footway in the manner of a cyclist.

I know you find it difficult to accept that the car you use is highly
