I finally went to a bicycle dealer and plunked down an order today...
phew... finally...

So what is it? The Redline Monocog of course. For someone who has
very basic needs as myself and from the positive feedback I've gotten
in e-mail I really think this is a better buy compared to the Bianchi
SASS I've been drooling about. I plan to only take this to parks and
bike paths - never off road - and no tricks. Just sweaty knee
crushing fitness on the paths to get my butt in shape.

There ya go!

Any wheels are better than none unless they whack your knees. Take it
easy and don't be afraid to get off and walk at first. It's better
than injuring yourself and blaming the bike.

Get the shop to adjust if for your size. You might have to swap stems
and want different bars or saddle. But above all, make sure they
tension and stress relieve the spokes.

I'm interpreting 'less aggressive hub' to mean a lower gear ratio so
it's easier to pedal up hills. You might get the shop to change the
freewheel sprocket for a larger one than stock. As you get stronger
and accustomed to pedalling they can put on a smaller one.

Ride it to make sure it doesn't become a $500 dust collector. Be brave
and it will change your life.
It's still as much fun as when you were ten.
Congratulations.
