Default Biker Killed by Mountain Lion

Your ideas make perfect sense, but since we're talking California, we
should probably follow mine instead.

We should locate the alleged perpetrator and bring it before justice.
Even though the victim and her friend clearly identified the perpetrator
as a mountain lion, we should make sure that we question plenty of deer
and rabbits so the rest of the lions are not offended.
We should make sure that the brave men who capture the alleged
perpetrator handle the perpetrator with excessive gentleness. If the
perpetrator interprets the excessive gentleness as a sign of weakness
and attacks the arresting officers and they defend themselves, we should
call the arresting officers racists and show videos of the officers
subduing the perpetrator. The videos should be edited to remove the
initial attack by the lion against the officers.

Once we try the alleged perpetrator, we should blame the victims for
causing the attack. We should also point out that the perpetrator was
only a year old and should not be held accountable. We should ignore
the fact that the perpetrator had already killed a man before attacking
the woman. We should also try the other bikers for throwing rocks at
the perpetrator.

In the unfortunate instance that the perpetrator is found guilty, we
should incarcerate the perpetrator with lots of other perpetrators who
have done the same thing. After 6 months of being locked up with other
perpetrators, we should release the pepetrator because it is better that
someone else die than we keep a proven murderer behind bars with plenty
of food, weight lifting equipment and cable TV.

Oh, I almost forgot. We should pass lots of laws that prevent the
victims from obtaining weapons to defend themselves with. To prevent
the lion from obtaining weapons (in the unlikely event that it should
need one) we will post a sign that says, "No weapons allowed". In case
that sign is ignored by the perpetrator, we should post another sign
that says. "It is unlawful to kill Humans". The sign will probably not
do any good and take money away from apprehending murderers but it will
make the rest of us feel better about ourselves.

criminals but none for victims) Tracy

. Do we kill bears that have attacked humans?

Yes

What's the manner we deal with mountain lions?

Get the dogs, run it down and shoot it.

How should this be handled?

Just like I said. They got the dogs, ran it down and shot it.

Pumas/cougars/panthers/mountain lions are not an endagered species.

When an animal starts attacking humans it has entered my very personal
ecological niche and I kill it. I don't fault the lion for it is
doing what is natural(hunting prey) and I don't fault myself for I am
doing what is natural for me (self defense).

Help! I'm agreeing with Ed!! Were I a Calfornia cyclist, I'd be far more
worried about cars than cats.

Jonathan Swift was satire?

Oh my God!

I've got to email the relatives back in Ireland to quite selling their
young.

Apparently everyone on this newsgroup has read Jonathan Swift as I
have never encountered so much satire since leaving a college English
class 40 years ago. And it is darn good satire too.

Like the Hoagie Carmichael song. "A little bitty bug is gonna get you
someday".

Jerry, I'm a professional musician (jazz piano) and I love HC ... what
song are they the lyrics to? They really do not strike a bell.

Yeah, but we're damn lucky that cats lack opposable thumbs, otherwise
they'd be hot-wiring SUVs and we'd all be killed.

Apparently so. She was eating a slice of pizza with the other front paw.
