Car deliberately used as a weapon.
Ramming carried to extremes? As far as cyclists are concerned there
are loads of lethal weapons out there being wielded badly on our roads and it only takes one at the wrong time in the wrong place. "A woman who admitted killing a man by running over him in a County Durham car park has been jailed for five years. Shaun Dalby, 28, died when he was hit by a Fiat Punto in the Co-op car park in Coxhoe in February 2010. Naomi Myers, 22, was originally charged with murder, but a guilty plea to manslaughter was accepted at Newcastle Crown Court in February. The court heard that Mr Dalby died after falling over and being run over after a dispute with Myers. Prosecutor Mark Giuliani said experts had concluded Myers, of Park Avenue, Coxhoe, had applied the brakes before she hit Mr Dalby and that she had been travelling at a speed of greater than 12mph." http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-12940693 -- . Well, let's see, Doug: 1. He wasn't a cyclist 2. A car park isn't a road 3. A car park isn't 'the wrong place' for a car 4. It wasn't there 'at the wrong time' Apart from that, your analysis is spot-on. But you're right, there ought to be a law against it. "A woman who admitted killing a man by running over him in a County Durham car park has been jailed for five years. Oh, there is! |

Good As far as cyclists are concerned Hands up all who are concerned about Doug's posts. there are loads of lethal weapons out there being wielded badly on our roads Crossbows, rifles, SPgun, ICBM, hairspray, bad hair. and it only takes one at the wrong time in the wrong place. So you can do this in the 'right place' "A woman who admitted killing a man by running over him in a County Durham car park Oh, so it was not a road, it was a car park (do they allow bad hair in a car park?) has been jailed for five years. Shaun Dalby, 28, died when he was hit by a Fiat Punto in the Co-op car park in Coxhoe in February 2010. Are, I see now, it was a Co-op car park road. Naomi Myers, 22, was originally charged with murder, but a guilty plea to manslaughter was accepted at Newcastle Crown Court in February. They must have all been motorists. The court heard that Mr Dalby died after falling over and being run over after a dispute with Myers. Probably fell over the bike that isn't mentioned. A cycle is an ideal weapon for e.g. a robbery or shooting, you can get away along small alleyways and there is almost nothing to identify the vehicle (cycle) in that case). A driving licence is a licence to kill. And so? Everyone, drivers and non-drives alike, have licence to kill since they can carry it out with no obstruction. However, that doesn't mean that you don't have to serve time. |

OTOH motorists have been convicted of murder, manslaughter and GBH [with intent] for driving into pedestrians on the pavement, depending on whether the jury considered they intended to harm anyone. |

OTOH motorists have been convicted of murder, manslaughter and GBH [with intent] for driving into pedestrians on the pavement, depending on whether the jury considered they intended to harm anyone. Most of the time motorists are charged with careless or dangerous driving, when there is not intent, but instead they could be charged with involuntary manslaughter which carries a much longer maximum sentence. The reason they are allowed to get the softer charge is because juries, naturally dominated by majority motorists, used to be unwilling to convict for manslaughter. "Motor manslaughter Because of a reluctance by juries to convict when the charge was manslaughter, a statutory offence of "causing death by dangerous driving" was introduced. Following the Road Traffic Law Review Committee (1988), the Road Traffic Act 1991 abandoned recklessness in favour of the pre-statutory objective test of "dangerousness", i.e. did the driving fall far below the standard of the competent and careful driver. The Committee also recommended that manslaughter should be an optional charge for the more serious driving cases. Note the possibility of charging an aggravated taking without consent for less seriously dangerous driving where death results." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manslau...in_English_law -- .
