http://tinyurl.com/7856s# WHaaaat? all they can say is that it caused a delay....whaaaaat is the deal with this newspaper? CYCLING ACCIDENT CAUSES M4 DELAYS September 24, 2005 - 2:30PM One male cyclist was killed and another injured when they collided on a motorway in Sydney's west today. All westbound lanes of the M4 have been closed following the accident about 8am today, a NSW police spokeswoman said. Witnesses have told police two cyclists were travelling in the same direction in the breakdown lane when they collided. One of the cyclists was subsequently struck by at least one vehicle travelling along the motorway. He died at the scene while the other was taken by ambulance to Nepean Hospital suffering facial injuries. His condition is not yet known. Meanwhile, all westbound lanes on the M4, near the Roper Road turn-off, have been closed while police investigate the scene. "There are already lengthy delays which almost reach the Wallgrove Road exit," the spokeswoman said. "It's expected the motorway will be closed for several hours and motorists are urged to avoid the area." It it the second fatal accident in two days following the death of an 13-year-old boy who was hit by a car on the NSW south coast. The teenager was riding across a major intersection in the town of Batehaven about 9am yesterday when he was struck by a car, a NSW police spokesman said. He was taken to Canberra Hospital with serious head injuries but died at 12.25am today surrounded by his family. *AAP* -- endroll |
