Default New KH Hub, defective??

Very interesting, as far as i understand Kris buys the axles off the
shelf rather than making them himself so maybe it's a quality control
problem further up the line.

I love a community where when you get a defective part you can contact
the actual guy who's name's on the product and get a helpful reply.

Yes, looked like a manufacturing defect to me as well. I don't see what
could be going on in the cranks to cause a similar issue, without it
being very noticeable with the naked eye.

That said, if you find your axle is similar but you never noticed, it's
because 1/4" like that isn't too big a deal. Back in the days of
cottered cranks it wasn't too unusual for cranks to be off by more than
that due to uneven wear in the cotter pins (or putting one pin in the
wrong way; pins need to fact opposite directions for best fit). If you
don't see any effect on your riding you needn't worry. It won't cause
you any orthopedic problems or anything.

I would probably want mine to be straight though, but if you've already
been riding it a while and not noticed a problem, it's not worth being
out of commission to wait for a replacement either.

Youu gotta love this sort of surprise cause you are usually left telling
your story to a computer in New Jersy (Nothing personal, I love the
garden state). So old school and so not the case with 99.9% of
businesses in the global economy and the like.

I think he means that with a lot of things now and days, you are online
typing out what is wrong and you really aren't sure were your sending
it to, you just know it is in the costumer support section of the
website.

But, with unicycling, they are still able to contact the dealer or the
head guy (Kris in this case) and describe everything that happens about
the product and get direct answers straight form the people you buy
your product from.

To finish off this story and this thread, Kris Holm and Darren Bedford
investigated further and decided that is was a problem with a small
number of the KH cranks being mis-machined. Kris didn't say how many
units might have this problem, but Darren shipped a new hub and cranks
to me yesterday and they look great and the cranks are aligned just
like they should be.

Kris and Darren get kudos for getting this fixed so fast.

So I was right, it was a crank problem and not a hub problem?
