A car driver was fined and his car seized for hogging the middle lane recently, thus obstructing vehicles behind him.

QUOTE:
They are the scourge of motorway driving and one middle lane hogger on the M62 has landed in hot water.

Those who stick stubbornly to the middle lane even if the motorway ahead is clear can be infuriating.

And Humberside Police took a dim view when spotting one such motorist on Wednesday evening.

Humber Roads Police tweeted about the incident which also revealed the driver also had no insurance.

The tweet says: "Vehicle spotted on the M62 motorway heading towards Hull using only the middle lane without a good reason or consideration for other road users. "The vehicle is also not insured. Driver reported for offences accordingly."

Not all drivers realise that hogging the middle lane is not only annoying, it is an offence and is deemed careless driving.

Rule 264 of the Highway Code states that: "You should always drive in the left-hand lane when the road ahead is clear. "If you are overtaking a number of slow-moving vehicles, you should return to the left-hand lane as soon as you are safely past."

In June 2013, new penalties were introduces to help tackle the problem and tailgating, giving police the power to issue fixed penalty notices for careless driving.

The change meant that motorists could be hit with a £100 and three penalty points, in line with other similar non-motoring fixed penalties.

Very good. Cyclists take note.

Also drivers who feel the need to sound their horn as a rebuke.
It is not needed.

And also illegal. Not that it matters because Pamalugents 'think' the
Highway Code only applies to cyclists. Motorists are 'Highly Trained'
and 'Pay Road Tax' so they can decide for themselves which laws apply to
them

What a strange world you must live in.

I suspect the seizure was due to lack of insurance.

Almost certainly, plus lack of a driving licence. The person in charge
of the seized car is highly likely to have been no more than a qualified
cyclist.

Glad you agree cyclists have a RIGHT to use roads and motorvehiclists can only use our roads under licence.

Are you delirious?

Or does your imagination just play tricks on you?

Possibly.

But it's hard to imagine your imaginary visions ever evolving so far as
to constitute "thinking".
