It's a delightful bike, I really enjoyed riding it with that hub. http://sheldonbrown.org/raleigh-international The Sturmey-Archer 8-speed is a good choice for small-wheel bikes, like my Raleigh Twenty: http://sheldonbrown.org/raleigh-twenty However, I wouldn't recommend it for a bike with full-sized wheels, due to its peculiar gearing. Also, the Nexus 8 shifts quite a lot better. Actually, the Nexus 8 is the best-shifting bicycle gear system I have ever experienced. Could you tell me which model number of Nexus 8 you're referring to? Do I have to buy one of the models with a roller or coaster brake, then remove the brake mechanism to get the extra clearance? If I can, I want to use the V-brake model, which is only offered in 132mm or 135mm, according to the Shimano website. |
