It doesn't sound like 3300 miles in a car is much of a holiday for you. Good that you are keeping in touch with us though. Have you any photos of Mrs Mason relieving herself to relieve the boredom threshold for us? There may be someone who would actually be interested. Simple really. -- Simple Simon Mason - who cycles at 25mph in 20mph limits just because the limits do not apply to cyclists. This includes exceeding the speed limit past three schools. Hello from sunny Belgrade, Serbia after driving in from Zagreb which took around 6 hours, including a wait of an hour at the border. The border police took our passports away until I bought green card 3rd party insurance from a tiny portacabin nearby. This cost a staggering 110 quid for the minimum one month, they did not accept Euros, so had to change 150 Euros into Serbian Dinars to get the green card. Petrol is around 1-08 a litre, so filled up with 98 RON. Nothing much on the motorway into Belgrade, but the city itself was very busy. Car is now in the hotel underground car park and we are here until Wednesday when we head out to Skopje, Macedonia where there will be more green card fun. Wish you were there. -- Simon Mason |

I have never stated such a thing - I have always maintained that a cyclist will regularly beat a motorist in *intra city journeys* which is proven by the many challenges they win. They are obviously slower on inter city trips where fast, traffic light routes exist, such as motorways. When I get back to commuting, I will get the bike out again and leave the car for another year, as the cycle is best for my trips to work.
