It would really be nice to be able to point out that by wearing helmets, cyclists on the streets & roads are seen to adopt much of the onus of care that properly belongs with motorists. Some phrases, like "genuflecting to the Sacred Car," "cycling inferiority complex," and "misplaced submissive deference" are rolling around in my mind, but I guess I'll leave it alone for now. Good thing, or someone would have to point out how misguided those unexpressed thoughts of yours are! :-D Au contraire to Bill's comments - I reckon Tom's phrases are pretty dam acute. But regarding Bill's dismissive - well now, that sounds misguided to me. Roger -- RogerDodger |

Ah, but I believe that's voluntary on your part, non? I'd probably voluntarily continue to use my helmet too, even if I wasn't living (as I am) under a Mandatory Helmet Law. But I'm thinking in terms of being legislatedly compelled to wear helmets, so that drivers don't have to feel badly for injuring us too much when they run us over. I think imposing the focus of safety on cyclists instead of motorists in such a manner as MHLs is tantamount to an humiliation. Bill "dam acute?" S. Topo Gigo was too dam acute. cheers, Tom -- -- Nothing is safe from me. Above address is just a spam midden. I'm really at: tkeats [curlicue] vcn [point] bc [point] ca |
