Suntour Power shifter inside rachet activation washers
Moving shifters from down tube clamps to Swift Shift aerobar fixture,
the washers that activate the rachet mechanism are attached to the down tube clamp and are non transferable. In addition, they would not fit anyway since Swift Shift aerobar already has a spindle which is built in the down tube washer. It looks like a perfect 9mm washer (18mm OS DIA), except metric washer come standard in even sizes only and 8 and 10mm will not fit at all due to inner an outer washer contraints. Does anyone have any feasible suggestions? This may the same problem as converting Suntour Power rachet down tubes to bar ends shifter set up. Here is a photo and can see the 2mm thick washer attached to down tube bracket in lower left corner: http://www.dooberywhatsit.com//files...iftersAsms.jpg This is starting to look difficult finding a perfect 9mm IS 18mm OS flat chromed washer, which looks like a perfect 9mm size compared to 8/10mm IS and (15/20mm) OS DIA measures: except odd metric mm size washers are not standard. Thanks!! |

Suntour Power shifter inside rachet activation washers
About all I can figure out is drill the 8/15mm washer out 1mm to 9mm,
since 15mm was OS washer size on down tube clamp fixed spindle/washer. Now I'm glad I mistakenly got the SS washers versus the slick Chrome washers. Once I drilled into chrome film, it would have rust like crazy. Every now and then I get lucky, but not often ( :- o)= I wonder why there are not chromed SS washers for slick surfaces and rust prevention. Thanks anyway! ddog wrote: Moving shifters from down tube clamps to Swift Shift aerobar fixture, the washers that activate the rachet mechanism are attached to the down tube clamp and are non transferable. Well, went to McMaster Carr which should have done in the first place.
Most of what I bought before blindly without specs is ok. Just the damn shipping. I got a 3/8" IS 5/8" OS SS thin .75mm washer bag of 100 for $6.67+4.42 shipping. Aeronotical A18-8 SS, that may be magnetic which should be ok. Only SS available for size, so... That's my Suntour Power Ratchet Pressure Washer (1 to 3 each per side). McMaster Carr number 98017A199 :-) |
