Default Man jailed after cyclist died in Birmingham collision

This piece of scum will get his licence back one day.
QUOTE:
"A man has been jailed after he fled the scene of a crash which led to the death of a cyclist. Momin Ahmed was driving a blue Seat Ibiza along Reservoir Road, in Edgbaston, when he struck cyclist David Perkins, as he turned right onto Osler Road.

The 65-year-old suffered serious head injuries in the crash in August 2019 and was taken to hospital. He died later that day. Ahmed, 26, failed to stop at the scene, but dash-cam footage from a nearby parked car gave police officers the registration plate of the offending car.

Investigations continued to trace Ahmed, however he handed himself in to police later that day.

At a pre-trial hearing in January, Ahmed, of Villa Street, in the Lozells area, pleaded guilty for causing death by dangerous driving.

On Monday, he was sentenced to three years for causing death by dangerous driving, three months for failing to stop and for failing to report the incident, which will run concurrently.

He will be disqualified from driving for three years on his release from prison.

David's family paid an emotional tribute to him at the time of his death, saying: "We lost an amazing father, partner and grandfather. His sudden death and the circumstances in which he was taken from us make it impossible to comprehend at this time.

“He was truly the most kind and loving person and his life was taken away from this world far too soon. He will be terribly missed by everyone who knew him; we don’t know how we can be without him."
Pc David Crump, from West Midland Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "In a cowardly act, Ahmed left the scene, leaving David for dead.

“I can only hope the outcome will provide some comfort to David’s family, although I know no sentence will ever bring him back."
