Default Cyclist left in critical condition after Walsall hit-and-run

QUOTE:
The male cyclist was on Bridge Street, near to the High Street, when he was struck by a dark 4x4 car at around 6.45pm last night.

The car failed to stop at the scene.

The 44-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries, where he remains today in a critical condition.

West Midlands Police has launched an investigation – and officers are appealing for anyone with dash-cam footage to contact them.

They have also appealed directly to the driver to come forward – as enquiries continue to trace them.

Sergeant Alan Hands, from the force's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "I am appealing directly for the driver of a dark 4x4 which will have significant damage to its front end and possibly its windscreen, to come forward.

“We need to work out exactly what happened and I would also be interested in hearing from anyone who has dash-cam footage before or after the collision, or saw the car leaving.”

Anyone with information is asked to call West Midlands Police on 101, quoting incident 3013 of March 7. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

I feel sorry for the cyclist who's seriously injured. Below is a better
picture of the scene. The road layout doesn't look safe. Maybe somebody was
coming downhill too fast.

The incline in the photo I showed must be tempting for a downhill cyclist.
The driver most probably has his share of blame too.

Here's my link again, because for some reason, you left it out.

So you have no evidence that the driver was exceeding the speed limit for that road? Thanks for clearing that up.

Guess that leaves the cyclist. Do you suspect he was exceeding the speed
limit?
