Default Buying a bike in Ireland?

Okay, here is my half-baked plan: I will fly to Ireland to see the country.
While there, I will buy a folding bike. After a couple of weeks, I will put
it in a case and bring it back to the States, where it will be a "used" bike
when I bring it through Customs.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this plan? Any ideas for a good but
reasonably priced folding bike? A Dahon perhaps? Do they sell these in
Dublin?

With the value of the US dollar so low, you will end up paying far more for
a bike in Ireland than you could buy it for at home. Moreover, there is no
charge for bicycles on transatlantic flights (they count as one piece of
luggage) so it is easy to take one with you; that's true for either a
folding bike or a full size frame.

Be prepared to pay applicable taxes.
You have to worry about customs and
taxes of your jurisdiction.
