Mark "I'm guessing it's not too light" Hickey Do you think it *can* go around corners? I have serious doubts... I'm trying to picture the technique, and it's scary at best, impossible at worst. I suspect it would either take a great bit of body english to initiate a turn, or a LOT of countersteering to get it leaning the right way. I think you need to make very sure you don't lean the bike. That will mean going slowly around curves -- but since there does not appear to be a brake anywhere on there, aside from being a fixie, I wouldn't want to get that amount of kinetic energy going too fast anyway. Sadly, chopper style bikes (though not with THAT big of a square rear tire) seem to be catching on with kids. I saw one duck-footing one down a MUP a week ago - couldn't keep it going in a straight line long enough to really pedal the stupid thing. Sigh... Yeah, well, it's a MUP. They're usually crowded enough to make any bike need to use it as a walker. Jasper |
