Pic of Lemond winning 1989 World's...what's up with the wheel in their faces?

(Evan Evans) wrote in message . com... Lemond won in 90 using C record not Mavic. The 89 season was on mavic. Did Konyshev attribute his 1989 silver medal to a broken Colnago Bititan? Kelly's lament was that his bike didn't go to 11. Greg Hall Is this a Spinal Tap reference, or was he wanting for an 11 tooth cog (or actually 12 as the case may have been)? -a |

As I recall, his lament was that he didn't put a 12 on, not an 11. It would have been 7 speed freewheel stuff for both campy and mavic at the time. An 11 wasn't an option. Well, that's wrong because they had 10's available. But you are correct about Kelley's failure being because he didn't have the 12. It must really be paining the RBR experts that Tyler won L-B-L on a 50-12. Doesn't everyone here think that you need a 56-11 in order to race Cat 5? Tyler didn't start using the compact cranks until after he broke his collarbone in Stage 1 of the Tour. -- Steven L.
