Wow...this looks like Jim O-****s (Jim Ochowicz) is trying to get that
winning Tour de France team he never had because he's a ****ing corrupt
loser. Memo to Jimmy: ASO isn't going to to invite your Pro conti team
since 2 team slots are already going to French Pro Conti teams. If ASO
accepts BMC, they would be forced to eliminate another Pro Tour team.

I also find it amazing that Rihs and O-****s don't know that Cadel Evans
will never win the Tour de France. Even if Evans did make it into the
Tour, he wouldn't even get a top-10. The guy is so yesterday's news.
He's not the guy you would want to build a GC team around.

Dumbass,

First off, I am in total agreement that Och is a corrupt loser.
Its a shame you didn't get to experience his dad's management
style as district rep back in the day. Then you could rant in
an intergenerational style. More than once he held up a race at
Superweek to force some Cat 4 to put on a pair of socks. He was
a real sweetheart, and he has passed on the sweetheart gene.
Just ask Gerard Bisceglia.

But Evans' value has more to do with the special jersey than
as a potential grand tour winner. But you are also correct that
the special jersey won't get them into the Tour any more than
it did Cipo when he had it.

Jim Ochowicz is a loser.

Nobody gives a **** if the world champion races your event or not, especially
considering most rainbow jersey winners phone in their results unless it's a
major race, in which the rainbow jersey is irrelevant since Cadel Evans has
no chance of winning any single day race in cycling. His win at worlds was a
fluke due to a very diluted field where at least 50% of the top cyclists
simply didn't show up combined with Vuelta fitness.

Cadel Evans won nothing when he won worlds...he beat nobody. He's a ****ing
Outback Aussie has-been. And he won't crack the top-10 in next year's Tour.

Cracks me up to read that, as it used to be a common occurence, even
back in the ABL days before the USCF. Socks had to be white, too. When
I was a kid, we used to think it was cool to race with no socks, they
would pull us for that, too.

I don't know yet what to think of BMC's chances of getting in. However,
the situation is rather more complicated than: all ProTour teams + some
French ProContis. For one, and for what it's worth, there was a deal
struck between UCI and GT organisers in 2008 to grant all then-ProTour
teams guaranteed entry for 2009 and 2010. That includes now-ProConti
Bbox and Cofidis, while Credit Agricole and Gerolsteiner no longer
exist, which leaves 16 teams.
New ProTour teams from after the deal: Garmin, Katyusha, Shack, Sky.
Cervelo is a ProConti team that seems sure of an invite. The Tour starts
in Holland so there is bound to be at least one Dutch ProConti team from
Vacansoleil and Skil-Shimano. Vacansoleil all but secured an invite by
signing the French Feillu brothers, and they have Hoogerland who showed
himself in the Vuelta, Worlds & Lombardia and announced his intent to
focus on the Ardennes (ie. ASO) classics. Skil only have Kenny, so,
probably not. That leaves one French ProConti squad Saur-Sojasun with
Casper, Coppel and Hivert. All in all, 25 teams.
Maybe, probably?, 22 teams to start the Tour in 2010 so 3 to leave out.
If they honour the 2008 deal, which do you pick? I think BMC trumps Skil
and Saur-Sojasun at least and possibly Sky and Katyusha. If they chose
to forget about 2008, BMC should be able to get an invite before
no-hopers Lampre and Milram.

This is a nice analysis. I'm going to use it to other people and claim it
as my own.

Thanks,
