RVD,
this is my first full season of covering bike racing. i am still deep in the learning curve. i hope to get better at it as time goes by. i will be covering stages 10 through 21 of le tour de france this year. my goal is to find several other cyling fans that will submit photos of races in their area for me to post up. i don't care if it is a local cat 4 crit or a grand tour. it is all cycling. motorcycles and motorcyle racing is going to be the next section added to the site. michael www.coolbicycling.com www.coolclimbing.com www.coolautomobiles.com www.coolfirearms.com "Rik Van Diesel" wrote in message oups.com... hueyville wrote: folks, NICE site...My favorite part would be on the page below..By the way I can't believe they would give you a press pass....hmmm. actually that is still under construction. my site is kind of piece milled
together due to the extraordinary number of topics i am jumping back and forth to. i originally started it as an attempt to show some of the local climbing down here in the south and i just keep asdding stuff. i think i am approaching 500 pages of content at present and it just keeps growing. since i have a real job and actually get out and do all of this stuff it is sometimes hard to get to everything everything i start finished in a timely fashion. right now i am working on a major update to my antique car section that i should upload over the weekend. i am sure ya'll can tell that i am not a professional web designer. i had never even done anything website related until i started this project. most of my updates are done during the winter when the days are short and i am not motivated enough to ride the trainer. i average between 1,500 and 3,000 hits per day with some days, like during the tour of georgia, going slap crazy. ya'll will notice there are no ads or obnoxious sponsor stuff to put up with. this is strictly for fun and not profit. i have at least a dozen more topics to add, lots more info to add to the existing topics and imagine i will keep adding stuff until i die of old age. i do have a section lurking around in there about my business so that i can justify letting the company pay for all of the server space so as it grows i'll just keep adding server space and bandwidth till it breaks me. most of the comments i get are positive and i am too thick skinned to let the negative ones bother me. most of the folks that flame me haven't even tried to do something like this so i just let it roll on past. if any of ya'll want to contribute anything just send it on. about 80% of the photos on the site are mine and the others are from friends and folks that just email them in. thanx, michael www.coolbicycling.com www.coolclimbing.com www.coolautomobiles.com www.coolfirearms.com "Ewoud Dronkert" wrote in message ... Holy crap. My, aren't we all an open-minded and tolerant bunch today. Diversity includes people who like to play with guns and have tea at church as well as Yoo-row-peens with funny names. But back to the topic. I see some promise in huey's site, but I can see why press credentials were denied. Huey's enthusiasm and promotion are commendable but, to be blunt, the website and photography need some work. There's nothing on the website that tells me "current bicycling news." The webmaster sneers about "ugly" bikes but then uses a camera with a cheap plastic lens for his photography. I see ride photos, but I don't see much in the way of news. With 30+ image loads on each page, those 3000 "hits" translates into about 100 page loads and maybe about 50 distinct visitors per day. With visitor stats that low a substantial percentage of those hits will be search engine spiders crawling your website. Improve the quality of the site, get a decent camera, read a book or three on photography, then try again for press credentials next year. Make it something that people will be interested in visiting. RFM |

Diversity includes people who like to play with guns and have tea at church as well as Yoo-row-peens with funny names. When the hell has tolerance or diversity been promoted around here? The PC version of it is the standard here, any real diversity of opinion is actively attacked, denigrated, and discouraged. Hell I miss Tosi's stuff even though I find him reprehensible as a human. He's way out on one end of the spectrum, but even the moderate right get's hammered around here while the anarchist/violent socialists get a free pass because cycling in America is predominantly a white collar, college indoctrinated, elitist sport.
