'Cycle track' residents up in arms
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk...s-8822714.html
One man from Esher is so fed up of being ‘kettled by Lycra louts’ on bikes, he has started a petition It’s the sort of language you’d expect to hear from an anti-capitalist campaigner, but residents of Surrey are claiming they are being "kettled" by "Lycra louts" on bikes. Ian Huggins, 68, a resident of Esher, has started a petition entitled "Stop Surrey being turned in to a cycle track" and claims repeated races are hurting local businesses and leaving residents "confined to their homes" because of road closures. They are ill-mannered, they are rude, they abuse the laws of the road and are abusive when you challenge them. It’s not a minority of cyclists, it’s the majority who behave like this." Cyclists have been see defecating on a local green (New Forest) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- No surprise there then - selfish *******s You may sign the petition at: http://www.change.org/en-GB/petition...-a-cycle-track Judith |

You may sign the petition at: http://www.change.org/en-GB/petition...l-stop-surrey- being-turned-into-a-cycle-track I tried. On pressing the Sign button the website produces an alert box with a blank space where the warning message should be. -- Les |

On Surrey roads so far this year there have been............. 191 Time Trials 46 Road Races 70 Sportiv Events 9 Triathlons (Source Surrey Police) There have been 4 events that warranted partial or full road closures. Serious accidents involving cyclists (not involving motor cars but simply falling off or colliding with other cyclists) have risen from 49 to 122. http://www.change.org/en-GB/petition...-a-cycle-track |
